Volunteer Program Highlights from 2007:
Significant Volunteer Hour Thresholds:
One Volunteer has over 26,000 hours of service with our
program.
One Volunteer has over 11,000 hours of service with our
program.
One Volunteer has over 5,000 hours of service with our
program.
Three Volunteers have between 2501-5000 hours of service
with our program.
Six Volunteers have between 1501-2500 hours of service with
our program.
Six Volunteers have between 1000-1500 hours of service with
our program
1,657 Headquarters Hours – Supporting the countywide
Volunteer (CLEPP) program at Sheriff Headquarters. Project
Managed the "Code-7 Cookbook" fundraiser from initial
concept to sales and distribution of the cookbook.
1,848 Detective Bureau Hours - Worked in excess of 600 ID
Theft, fraud, scams and forgery cases. Worked Megan's Law
cases and pawn shop tracking
2,690 Front Desk Hours - Provided high-quality customer
service and allowed Watch Deputies to continue monitoring
the radio and answering telephone calls for service
302 Station Beautification Hours- One of our Volunteers is a
regionally recognized rose expert. She is responsible for
the beautiful flowers at our station
919 Foot Patrol Hours - Focused on pedestrian / vehicular
traffic issues on Robertson Blvd., worked all major events
in West Hollywood, acted as "extra eyes and ears" for
station Deputies. Participated in all major special events.
Supported the March on Hate and the (aborted) Westboro
Baptist visit
West Hollywood Station’s Carole Hatcher was named Los
Angeles County’s Sheriff’s Department Volunteer of the Year
by the County Board of Supervisors. Carole’s dedication to
the Department was celebrated at a luncheon held by the
County of Los Angeles at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion
Conducted Handicap Placard Awareness activities
Disaster Communications – several Volunteers have become HAM
Radio licensed and joined LASD Disaster Communications
Maintained Emergency Command Post vehicle
Major Crimes Support - We supported several activities
conducted by Major Crimes Bureau
Participated in National Night Out
Pawn Slip Entry - We support the Detective Bureau by
entering pawn slips into the county-wide database
Provided support in Secretariat when staffing levels were
low
Shuttled LASD vehicles to Pasadena for use during Rose
Parade
Soap Box Derby - One of our West Hollywood Volunteers that
in the past has guided West Hollywood racers is now on the
Derby's steering committee
Supported “Baker to Vegas” relay race, in Command Post and
out on the race course
Supported station Armory - organizing armory and cleaning
weapons
Training - Volunteers received training on LiveScan
fingerprinting, Emergency Management Information Services (EMIS),
JDIC System
WeHoSheriff.com - The station's website was redesigned and
is managed by a Volunteer
West Hollywood City Parking Meetings - A Volunteer attends
meetings with City staff to discuss parking issues
