Volunteer Program Highlights from 2006:

 

  • 2,963 Front Desk Hours - Provided high-quality customer service and allowed Watch Deputies to continue monitoring the radio and answering telephone calls for service.
  • 2,338 Foot Patrol Hours - Focused on pedestrian / vehicular traffic issues on Robertson Blvd., worked all major events in West Hollywood, acted as "extra eyes and ears" for station Deputies.
  • 1,761 Detective Bureau Hours - Worked in excess of 600 ID Theft, fraud, scams and forgery cases. Worked Megan's Law cases and pawn shop tracking.
  • 871 Headquarters Hours - Supporting the countywide Volunteer (CLEPP) program at Sheriff Headquarters
  • Several station Volunteers completed CERT training
  • Supported Crosswalk Awareness activities

·      Conducted Handicap Placard Awareness activities.

  • Maintained Emergency Command Post vehicle
  • Provided fingerprinting at no charge at Kids Fair - WeHo Park
  • Inventoried Disaster Emergency Supply Lockers and created support plan
  • Supported "Baker to Vegas" relay race, in Command Post and out on the race course
  • Worked traffic posts for Academy Awards and Emmy Awards
  • Held Station Open House - Welcomed the community to tour our station
  • VOP Team supported the West Hollywood Design Walk
  • Staffed West Hollywood Sheriff booth at Gay Pride
  • Supported deputies by conducting  traffic closures on Robertson Blvd.
  • Supported "10-33 Ride" benefiting children
  • Provided support at Sheriff Headquarters
  • Supported station Armory - organizing armory and cleaning weapons
  • Supported Law Enforcement Diversity Conference held in West Hollywood - staffed registration desk and shuttled conference participants to West Hollywood events
  • Disaster Communications - several Volunteers have become HAM Radio licensed and joined LASD Disaster Communications

·         Provided support in Secretariat when staffing levels were low

  • Participated in National Night Out
  • Represented LASD at Jerry Lewis (MDA) Telethon
  • Worked traffic posts and foot patrol for AIDS Walk
  • Worked traffic posts and foot patrol for Halloween
  • Attended Neighborhood Watch meetings
  • Shuttled LASD vehicles to Pasadena for use during Rose Parade
